Mission Statement: The California Table Grape Commission is the promotional arm of the state's fresh grape industry. Established by an act of the California Legislature in 1968, the commission is governed by a board of 18 farmers and one member of the public. The commission represents 100 percent of California's approximately 600 table grape farmers. It derives its funding from an assessment on each pound of table grapes sent to market. Community Service: addresses educational, health and environmental issues through programs such as scholarships for grape workers and their children, minigrants for teachers, sponsorship of a regional science fair, support of Ag in the Classroom and the Audubon Society.
Project Description: This program provides grants to teachers who have developed innovative teaching units but lack the necessary funds for implementation.
