| Project Description: | Allensworth is a black community originally established in the early 1900's. Events and construction throughout the rural community southwest of Tulare were designed to restore pride in the community. The 500 residents turned it back into the gem its founder meant it to be - a place where freedom and pride are abundant. "It's an old - fashioned, community barn - raising - kind of a birth of a new town." |
