Duncan Polytechnical High School Project
AGRI-CORP

Duncan Polytechnical High School is one of the eight high schools in the Fresno Unified School District. It is located in the midst of the agriculturally rich San Joaquin Valley, yet few of its graduating seniors choose to continue their education in higher education agriculture programs in preparation for careers in agriculture.

Duncan Polytechnical High School requested $20,000 for a year-long project to initiate Agri-CORP (Collaborative Outreach and Recruitment Project). High school Hispanic juniors and their families will be exposed to the university programs and career opportunities through a variety of targeted activities throughout the academic year, including interaction with industry leaders, site visits, parent meetings, and a week-long summer bridge experience. Student leadership skills will be enhanced through planned activities such as ag literacy tutoring and assisting in community service projects such as community gardens.

Duncan will partner with California State University, Fresno (Fresno State) to expand an outreach, recruitment, and mentoring project focused on the Hispanic population, a program deemed vital to California's Central Valley agricultural industry.
